The Blues is Alright

King Louie's Portland Blues Revue
Little Milton

From 2012 thru 2014, I assembled an all-star band especially for Bend, Oregon's prestigious Jazz at the Oxford series.  Each year, we set new attendance records.  But the 2014 version of "King Louie's Portland Blues Revue" was truly special, and, unbeknownst to us at the time, the event soundman made a two-channel board recording of our performances.  The mix isn't perfect, but the recording does capture the excitement of the band, so I created a promotional CD with it.  Here's a track off that CD, featuring some fun interplay among the vocalists (LaRhonda Steele, Andy Stokes, and Lisa Mann--doubling on bass).  There's also an organ solo; I'm playing my Nord C2 Combo Organ, but you wouldn't know it--it truly sounds like a Hammond B-3.  (Also playing: Peter Dammann, guitar; Edwin Coleman III, drums; Danny Armstrong, trombone; and Renato Caranto, sax.)
