King Louie's Blues Revue
Gamble, Huff, Gilbert

"Live at Riverhouse Jazz" is one of the most fun CDs I've ever been involved with, and this is one of the most fun tracks on the CD!  I had assembled an all-star band for a two-day engagement at the Riverhouse Jazz series in April, 2017.  This track captures the spontaneity of those gigs perfectly, with a group of uber-talented & soulful musicians making up arrangements to familiar blues & soul songs on the spot.  Andy Stokes and LaRhonda Steele had only sung this song once before (the previous night), but they sound like they'd been doing it forever.  As you can hear, the audience loved every minute of it!  Prestigious UK reviewer William Buckley called the CD, "a spontaneous, fun-filled celebration of old style soul, blues and funk."  And a 4-star rave review in Downbeat commented on the "provocative" and "ultra-sensual" vibe of some of the tracks!
